St. Petersburg voting today on historic gas plant district redevelopment

St. Petersburg City Council will vote on several items for the Historic Gas Plant District Redevelopment at a council meeting today (July 18) at 11 a.m.

Following the vote, County Commission is scheduled to hold the final vote on stadium-related agreements this summer.

The meeting is at St. Petersburg City Hall council chambers, 175 5th St. N.

Council will vote on the following items related to the Historic Gas Plant Redevelopment and Stadium Project:

A resolution for the 12 agreements that provide the framework necessary to redevelop the current Tropicana Field site, ensuring the continued operations of the Tampa Bay Rays, approximately $6.5 billion of new development, significant job creation and community benefits, and one of the largest economic development projects in the region’s history;
An ordinance adopting amendments to Intown Redevelopment Plan to increase the Redevelopment Program budget to fund the New Stadium Project and the Historic Gas Plant Redevelopment Infrastructure;
An ordinance approving the Development Agreement for the Historic Gas Plant District Redevelopment;
Two resolutions to approve the issuance of bonds to finance the project costs relating to A) the New Stadium project and B) the infrastructure required for the Historic Gas Plant District Redevelopment Plan, and confirm the appointment of special legal counsel for related legal services;
A resolution acknowledging the selection of Skanksa USA Building Inc. for construction services for the Historic Gas Plant District Redevelopment project, including the new Tampa Bay Rays stadium.
