The Adderley, a 128-unit multifamily affordable housing complex at the intersection of Nebraska Avenue and Busch Boulevard in Tampa is completed. The project is a collaboration between the City of Tampa and Tampa-based developer Blue Sky Communities and received $2 million from the City of Tampa. The project addresses a critical need for affordable housing in the area.
“The demand for affordable housing in Sulphur Springs and Uptown is significant,” said Kayon Henderson, Director of Housing and Community Development. “We hope our partnership with Blue Sky Communities will lead to further development along Nebraska Avenue.”
The development originated from a proposal submitted by Blue Sky Communities in response to the City of Tampa’s Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program in 2021. This program provides federal tax credits to developers who reserve units for low-income households. All 128 units at The Adderley are designated as affordable.
“Providing affordable housing for our most vulnerable residents is a top priority,” said Mayor Jane Castor. “The Adderley will alleviate housing costs for many and help residents stay in their communities.”
Funding for The Adderley includes a $2 million State Housing Initiative Program (SHIP) Grant and ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funds. The SHIP Grant supports local governments in preserving affordable housing for low-income families.
