Just 18 months after Pike Construction broke ground, a new affordable housing development opened in Tampa, providing housing to hundreds of Tampa’s low income residents.
The 100-unit complex has dedicated 10 units for individuals transitioning out of temporary housing for the homeless, like Tampa Hope cottages. Five are available for direct referral from the city’s outreach team.Designed by FK Architecture and developed by Archway Partners in collaboration with the Tampa Housing Authority and Signature Property Group, the Casa Bel-Mar housing development will serve individuals at 80% AMI and below. In Hillsborough County, 80% of the AMI is about $53,500. Rents at Casa Bel Mar will range from $895-$1,400/month, with tenants paying no more than 30% of their income toward rent.
“Affordable housing is a pressing need in the Tampa Bay area, and Casa Bel-Mar reflects our commitment to addressing this demand with sustainable, thoughtfully designed living spaces,” said Kimberly Hellekson, Managing Principal at FK Architecture. “Our goal is to create spaces that are both functional and inspiring, enhancing community connection and quality of life for residents.”
The City of Tampa provided $2 million of Federal HOME Funds for the project, ensuring units in the complex will be accessible at affordable rates for a minimum of 30 years.
“At FK Architecture, our mission is to create spaces that residents can proudly call home,” said Ted Hunton, managing principal at FK Architecture. “We remain dedicated to affordable housing projects that bring positive change to communities, and Casa Bel-Mar stands as a testament to that commitment.”
