RQ Construction LLC, headquartered in Carlsbad, California, has been awarded a $23.3 million contract to demolish several outdated facilities at Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola. The contract, issued by the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Southeast, aims to remove aging infrastructure and improve safety on the base.

“We are excited to have received funding to clear out infrastructure severely damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004,” Cmdr. Brianna Jackson said in a statement, noting that storm-related damage has made some demolitions necessary.

The contract includes demolishing multiple buildings at NAS Pensacola and NAS Saufley Field, along with surrounding site areas. Key tasks include utility disconnections, hazardous material removal, and site restoration. Work is expected to be completed by May 2028.

Once utilities are disconnected and surrounding elements removed, designated buildings will be fully demolished, including their foundations. The sites will then be graded and prepared for future development. The demolition process will address civil, architectural, hazardous materials, and electrical concerns.

RQ Construction was selected through a competitive bidding process, with its proposal being one of three submitted via SAM.gov.

NAVFAC Southeast, based in Jacksonville, is responsible for facility planning and design, construction, leasing, environmental management, and maintenance services for the Navy and the Department of Defense across the region.
