St. Petersburg releases RFQ for affordable housing development through lot disposition program

Florida Construction News staff writer

The City of St. Petersburg has released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for interested developers for the Affordable Lot Disposition Program. The program would enable developers to construct affordable single-family or multi-family homes on city-owned lots to serve residents at or below 120 percent Area Median Income.

The Affordable Lot Disposition Program was created in 2018 to utilize vacant city-owned land for affordable housing. The program enables the city to enter into a Lease and Development Agreement with approved developers for the construction and sale of an affordable housing unit on the vacant lots. The program has resulted in the successful construction of more than 30 affordable homes, the majority of which reside in the South St. Petersburg Community Redevelopment Area (CRA).

The RFQ period is open now until April 3, at 3 p.m. Interested developers can submit their Statement of Qualification through the online bidding system at procurement.opengov.com/portal/stpete/projects/143509. Questions on the RFQ or program may be submitted until March 26 at 12 p.m. also through the online bidding system.

More information, registration, and submission requirements can be found at www.stpete.org/LotDisposition. Learn more about the city’s Community Redevelopment Area program and impact at www.stpete.org/CRA.
