Construction has started on three $30 million rehabilitation hospitals in Florida, with new facilities breaking ground this week in Orange Park, Wellen Park and Daytona Beach.
The hospitals are being built by Catamount | Freese Johnson JV, LLC, a joint venture between Catamount Constructors and Freese Johnson. The firms are partnering with Exalt Health, a provider of post-acute rehabilitation services, to expand access to specialized neurological, orthopedic and cardiac recovery care.
Each hospital will include 40 beds and provide physical, occupational and speech therapy. The projects are designed to meet growing demand for post-acute care in Florida communities.
“These projects are more than buildings—they’re a commitment to healing, growth and economic vitality,” said Mitch Brown, senior vice-president at Catamount Constructors. “We’re proud to help bring Exalt Health’s proven care model to more patients.”
Henry Johnson, chief strategy officer at Freese Johnson, said the partnership highlights the value of collaboration in healthcare construction. “We’re combining deep industry expertise with shared values to deliver facilities that will make a lasting impact,” he said.
Construction on the Orange Park facility is expected to wrap up in early 2026, with the Wellen Park and Daytona Beach locations following later that year.
Exalt Health operates similar facilities in Texas and Arizona. Once completed, the Florida hospitals are expected to create more than 500 jobs across the three locations.
