The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has awarded five new project grants totaling over $19.5 million through the Aggregate Grant Program that will improve the transport and storage of roadbuilding materials across Florida.
Also, FDOT announced a $7.5 million grant award for the Intermodal Logistics Center Infrastructure Support Program, which will enhance the movement of goods between seaports and inland hubs and support job creation. This second round of annual aggregate grants is in addition to last year’s $18 million.
The latest round of funding will expand aggregate storage capacity at Florida’s seaports by over 4.2 million tons, helping to ensure on-time delivery of road and infrastructure projects throughout the state.
“These strategic programs and funding opportunities ensure we’re poised for success as major construction projects continue throughout the state,” FDOT Secretary Jared W. Perdue said in a statement.
Grants are expected to attract $27.3 million in private investment and generate an estimated $116 million in economic impact. Selected projects will be implemented or completed within 12 to 18 months, delivering near-term benefits to Florida’s transportation infrastructure.
“A strong supply chain is key to Florida’s economic strength. We can’t rely on Washington—we need Florida-based solutions,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “These grants will help our state boost capacity and ensure vital materials reach projects on time.”
