BayCare Health System has started construction on a new hospital in Parrish, marking its first facility in Manatee County and its 17th in the Tampa Bay area. The comprehensive acute care hospital is slated to open in 2027.
The construction contractor for BayCare Hospital Manatee is Robins & Morton, an Alabama-based firm with offices in Tampa.
Located at 6730 Moccasin Wallow Road in the Robinson Gateway development, approximately one mile north of the I-75 and I-275 interchange, the $548 million project will feature 154 private patient rooms and a 45,000-square-foot medical arts building.
Designed by Gresham Smith, the hospital’s architecture allows for future expansion to 207 beds to accommodate community growth.
BayCare Hospital Manatee will be the county’s first not-for-profit hospital and the only hospital located north of the Manatee River. The facility will offer services including general, orthopedic and specialty surgery; urology; gastroenterology; cardiology; diagnostic and interventional imaging; emergency care; obstetrics; and neonatology.
“As West Central Florida continues to grow and thrive, we are committed to investing in our communities to bring high-quality and compassionate care closer to our communities,” said Stephanie Conners, president and CEO of BayCare.
BayCare first announced plans for the hospital in 2022 and began site preparation and zoning efforts shortly thereafter. In addition to the hospital, BayCare has opened a medical group office in Palmetto and offers home health and telehealth services in the area.
The new hospital is expected to open in 2027.
