The Bradenton Police Department and the City of Bradenton officially broke ground Tuesday on a new state-of-the-art police headquarters, marking a major investment in the city’s public safety infrastructure.
The new facility, located on 6th Avenue West between 2nd Street West and 3rd Street West, will replace the department’s current headquarters, which opened in 1998. The modernized building is expected to enhance community access, support officer training, and incorporate advanced policing tools to meet the demands of 21st-century law enforcement.Construction on a dedicated parking garage for staff and patrol vehicles is already underway, with building construction scheduled to begin in June. The police department expects to open the new headquarters in late 2026.
“This new facility represents our commitment to providing both our officers and our community with the resources needed for effective, transparent, and community-focused policing,” officials said during the groundbreaking ceremony. The $35-million capital development project will deliver a 50,399-square-foot headquarters, along with a 61,105-square-foot parking structure. The project was designed by global infrastructure firm AECOM, with construction led by NDC Construction, a firm noted for its expertise in large-scale public sector projects.
In addition to modern workspaces for key operational units, including Crime Scene Investigations and Property/Evidence, the facility will feature dedicated training and meeting spaces outfitted with advanced technology. The design also includes infrastructure to support predictive analytics and other emerging crime prevention tools.
City officials say the new headquarters reinforces Bradenton’s longstanding commitment to community policing by improving physical access to police services and fostering deeper collaboration between officers and residents.
