Just in time for the new school year, Action Roofing has donated essential school supplies to more than 170 children at the Boys & Girls Club of Citrus and Marion Counties in Florida.
The children, ages 6 to 12, received pens, pencils, glue and notebooks during a special end-of-summer event July 31. The day also featured indoor and outdoor games and activities, followed by a pizza party for children and their families.
The donation was organized by Action Roofing’s Ocala branch and marks the second year the roofing company has supported the Boys & Girls Club’s end-of-summer celebration.
“The Boys & Girls Club of Citrus and Marion Counties does incredible work for this community, and this was our chance to show up for the families they serve,” said Jeremy Wilkinson, Ocala branch manager at Action Roofing. “Sending these kids into the school year with the supplies they need and a day full of memories is the kind of giving that matters most to us.”The Boys & Girls Club provides children in the Ocala area with a safe and supportive environment throughout the year. Its programming includes homework assistance from certified teachers, STEM activities, arts programs, leadership development, sports and recreational activities.
The contribution comes as families continue to face higher costs for back-to-school necessities. According to studies cited by Action Roofing, school supply prices increased 7.3 per cent year over year in 2025 and were 20 per cent higher than before the pandemic. The average family was spending about $557 per child on back-to-school essentials.
For families already managing higher household expenses, donated supplies can help reduce some of the costs associated with returning to school.
Action Roofing, founded in 1986 and headquartered in Pompano Beach, is one of Florida’s largest roofing companies. The company provides roofing services in communities across the state and says community involvement is an important part of its mission.
