At HCA Aventura Hospital in Aventura, Florida, B&I Contractors recently reached a significant milestone as part of the hospital’s Rehab Expansion Shell Buildout project. Working alongside general contractor Brasfield & Gorrie and HCA Healthcare, B&I successfully completed the Level 3 sanitary tie-in milestone on schedule, demonstrating the importance of communication, planning and teamwork in healthcare construction.
The project included a strict 26-day shutdown window for third floor sanitary tie-ins supporting the hospital’s fourth-floor rehabilitation expansion. In an operational healthcare facility, even temporary shutdowns require careful planning to minimize disruptions and ensure hospital operations continue without interruption.
B&I’s project team worked alongside hospital representatives and project partners to carefully schedule each phase of the work. Through detailed preparation and consistent coordination between the field and project management teams, the required shutdowns were completed within the designated timeframes without delays to hospital operations.

The completed work passed inspections in a timely manner, and hospital walkthroughs were completed without concerns. B&I also continued advancing additional project scopes, including Level 4 overhead and in-wall work, helping keep the overall rehabilitation expansion on track.
