Construction of the $563 million BayCare Hospital Manatee reached a major milestone July 10 with the placement of the project’s final steel beam, marking completion of the hospital’s structural framework.
BayCare Health System and general contractor Robins & Morton celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the new 450,000-square-foot hospital, which is expected to open in 2028.
The hospital, located about one mile north of the Interstate 75 and Interstate 275 interchange in Manatee County, will include 154 private patient rooms and expand health care services for the growing community.
“As Manatee County’s only not-for-profit hospital reaches full height, it represents an important step toward expanding access to the high-quality, compassionate care BayCare is known for across West Central Florida,” said BayCare President and CEO Stephanie Conners.
The project is designed to provide additional access to essential services and specialty care for residents in Manatee County and the surrounding South Tampa Bay region.
“Reaching the topping out of BayCare Hospital Manatee is a proud milestone for our entire team and trade partners, and a reflection of the strong collaboration driving this project forward,” Robins & Morton Operations Manager Bryan Durkin said.
Robins & Morton is serving as the project’s general contractor, and Gresham Smith is the architect.
The new hospital is part of BayCare’s continued investment in health care infrastructure across West Central Florida as the region’s population grows.
