Construction has started on a 24-story mixed-use apartment development in downtown St. Petersburg that will add 367 apartments and ground-floor retail space to the city’s central business district.

The project, located at 275 S. Fifth St., is scheduled for completion in 2028. It is the developer’s first multifamily project in downtown St. Petersburg.

Plans call for a Class A apartment tower with 367 rental units and about 6,000 square feet of street-level retail space. The development will include residential amenities and is located two blocks south of Central Avenue, near St. Petersburg’s waterfront along Tampa Bay.

The site also includes 100 feet of frontage along Sixth Avenue South, a main corridor connecting Interstate 175 to downtown.

PLACE Architecture designed the project.

The development is part of continued residential growth in downtown St. Petersburg, where developers have added new housing to meet demand in the city’s urban core. The downtown district has attracted renters with its walkability, employment base, restaurants, entertainment venues and cultural attractions.
