Extant Aerospace has broken ground on a new manufacturing facility in Melbourne that is expected to more than double the company’s workforce over time.
The project includes a more than $75 million investment in a 376,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility, with plans for an additional 120,000 square feet of future expansion. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to support growth from more than 250 employees to more than 450.FCL Builders is serving as the general contractor for the project. In a LinkedIn post announcing the milestone, the company said it is constructing an advanced manufacturing facility for Extant Aerospace and looks forward to delivering the project through collaboration and quality craftsmanship.
Extant Aerospace said the new facility represents an investment in the company’s future and will expand its manufacturing capabilities, strengthen operations and create additional opportunities for innovation and collaboration.
Founded in 2012, Extant Aerospace provides manufacturing, repair and support services for commercial aerospace and defense platforms. The company has completed more than 30 acquisitions and exclusive licensing agreements with aerospace companies including L3Harris Technologies, Collins Aerospace and GE Aerospace. Extant manufactures, repairs and supports more than 5,000 aerospace parts and assemblies.
The new facility will be built in Melbourne, a growing hub for Florida’s aerospace and defense industry. A timeline for completion was not announced.
