A-1 Global Holdings Inc., a manufacturer of structural building components, is marking 49 years in business as it begins a yearlong countdown to its 50th anniversary in 2027.
The employee-owned company was founded on Sept. 18, 1977, with seven temporary workers and an approximately 500-square-foot office. It now operates manufacturing facilities in Fort Pierce, Florida, and Bainbridge, Georgia, spanning more than 100 acres.
“Forty-nine years ago, today I opened the gates on a two-acre parcel in Mangonia Park, Riviera Beach, and A-1 came to life,” founder and CEO John Herring said in an anniversary message to employees.
Herring said the company’s growth brought challenges as well as successes, and thanked employees for their contributions.
As it enters its 50th year, A-1 is continuing to focus on manufacturing technology, employee training and facility improvements. The company says its work is aimed at meeting demand from builders for consistent quality, increased efficiency, less material waste, reduced field labour and shorter construction times.
A-1 is also continuing to develop off-site manufacturing capabilities, along with investments in machinery and automation.
The company’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan gives eligible employees an ownership interest in the company. A-1 says the ESOP is part of a workplace culture built around four core values: Own It, Passionate, Honesty and Respect.
The company’s mission, “Using Technology to Change the Way America Builds Homes,” also continues to guide its product development and expansion.
A-1 will mark its 50th anniversary on Sept. 18, 2027.
