Ryan Companies and Exalt Health have broken ground on a new inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Panama City that is expected to expand access to post-acute care in the growing community.
E4H Architecture is serving as the project architect, and Panhandle Engineering is the civil engineer.
The 39,093-square-foot hospital will include 40 inpatient rehabilitation beds and is scheduled to be completed in September 2027. Ryan and Exalt Health formed a joint venture to finance, develop and own the facility. Ryan also will serve as the general contractor and property manager.
The hospital will be located near several major healthcare facilities, including Ascension Sacred Heart Bay and HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital. The companies said the project is intended to address demand for rehabilitation services in a rapidly growing area with a large retirement population.
The project continues a partnership between Ryan and Exalt Health that began with the development of One Scottsdale Medical in Scottsdale, Arizona. The companies are also developing an inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Riverview, Florida.
“This project affirms our commitment to delivering critical post-acute care infrastructure in communities where patients need these medical services most,” said Jaime Northam, senior vice president of healthcare development at Ryan Companies.
Exalt Health provides inpatient rehabilitation services for patients recovering from neurological, musculoskeletal, rheumatic, cardiovascular and other complex conditions. Programs include joint replacement therapy, stroke recovery, pain management, wound care and other specialized treatments.
